This is Season 5 of the Tabletop Republic Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game League
THE RULES
Army selection - You can pick up to two armies to use for the entirety of the league. For each please state the maximum pts level you can field. This should be between 500 and 800pts.
Note there is no painting requirement so please do not be put off if you don't have a full army painted yet.
Each of the two armies you pick must be closely related such as being two Rohan lists, being two different narrative points for roughly the same heroes eg Thorin's Company and then Erebor Reclaimed.
There are three exceptions to this where if you pick the army you cannot pick a second due to the flexibility already available. These are Battle of Five Armies, Defenders of the Pelennor and Realms of Men.
Please contact the league organiser either via DM or in the public MESBG chat to check that your selections are valid. The intention of this rule is so that you have some flexibility game by game as army list selection is generally narrower in the new edition but not so much flexibility to be able to tailor your list completely to each opponent.
Each game will between 500 and 800 points. You should state the maximum you can field for each of your lists once the league starts and each pairing will be based on the lowest common figure once you have confirmed which army you are using with your opponent.
For each game please randomly determine a scenario from the main rulebook by rolling a D6. If a matched play book is released during the league then the league organiser may change scenario selection at that point.
There will be 6 rounds with a game every two weeks.
3pts will be scored for a win, 1pt for a draw. First tiebreaker will be VP Difference, then Head-to-Head record.
Models should be WYSIWYG to a strong level. Your opponent should be able to tell what a model/weapon is just by looking at it. The same applies for conversions and kitbashes.
Each round costs £6 (round 1 is covered by this entry fee). This equates for £5 table fee and £1 into the prize pool for trophies and vouchers at the end.
Terrain should be agreed upon by both players (we have an excellent selection in-store), and prior to each game, you should agree with your opponent how to treat each terrain pieces such as what is difficult, what is a barrier etc.
